Dear Parent/Carer                           20th October 2017

We have enjoyed so many events this half term and we would like to thank you for your support.

This week our Nursery and Reception children shared their portraits at the art exhibition. They had done an amazing job and it was a wonderful keepsake for parents and carers.

Parent consultations will take place next half term; please ensure you sign up for an appointment. This is a really important part of working together in order to help your child to REACH their potential. We look forward to seeing you there. Dates and times are listed at the end of this newsletter.

Today was the deadline for the whole school pantomime slips and then payment to be added to Parent Pay. With the current numbers and people who have returned slips and paid, we will not be able to hold this event. We have decided to extend the deadline until Thursday 2nd November. If you would like your child to take part in this exciting event, please return any slips, or see the office if you have not already done so, and then pay via ParentPay once this is added. If you have returned your slip, please check your ParentPay account. It would be such a shame if we are not able to run this event as the children absolutely love it!

Our children in Y4 had great fun baking this week with our visitors from Warburton’s. They learned lots about keeping healthy, had the opportunity to knead the bread and bake their own bread balls. Apparently, they were very tasty. Thank you to Warburton’s for providing this enjoyable and helpful opportunity.

After the holidays, our first week back is ‘Safety Week’. You are invited to an assembly on Friday 3rd November at 2:35pm; this will be an opportunity for our children to share their learning on this very important theme.

Speaking of safety, you will be aware that the area outside of school, Stone Brigg Lane, now has a speed limit maximum of 20mph. Whilst we know that the majority of parents and carers drive safely, recognising the area around school is very busy and has over 350 children making their way to school, there are, however, still a few parents/carers who drive dangerously.

One of the biggest risks and causes of child injuries and deaths in England is from the dangers of crossing roads and road traffic accidents. Please take those extra few seconds - it could make a VERY BIG difference!

Last night, the children in Years 5 and 6 held their Stone Age Exhibition. They had a fantastic opportunity to showcase all the amazing work and quality learning that has taken place this half term.  The children took great pride in guiding adults around the wonderful learning logs, artwork, explanations and stories; alongside the wonderful artefacts that were kindly loaned to us by Artemis. It was great event and one we were very proud to host. Charlie, I was so impressed - you made a wonderful tour guide!

 Have a wonderful half term.

Yours sincerely

Leila Rothenburg
