Welcome to Rothwell Primary School. The school has played an active part within the community for more than 130 years. On separate sites until 2005, the school is now in a fantastic, well-equipped PFI building which is home to 359 children, aged 3-11. Each classroom has its own entrance and cloakroom and we have a purpose built Foundation Stage Unit with excellent outdoor play provision. Our extensive school grounds include a sensory garden, a trim trail, a large school field and a multi-use games area.
Our inclusive ethos encourages all children to thrive emotionally, socially and academically by:
Ensuring that it is a stimulating environment in which to learn.
Valuing all children, ensuring their contributions and successes are celebrated.
Teaching the skills of self-discipline, co-operation, care, respect and tolerance.
Providing a rich, vibrant curriculum.
Promoting achievement in the core skills of Reading, Writing and Maths.
Having a highly skilled, committed and caring staff
Promoting a restorative approach to behaviour providing children with the skills to independently manage conflicts.
Building strong, positive links between home and school, supported with a very active PTA.
Effective home-school links.
Making productive links with other schools and the community.
A supportive governing body.
Ensuring children are well equipped for the next step in their learning journey.
Our latest Ofsted was in May 2013 when we were graded good with outstanding features. Ofsted judged that ‘pupils make good progress as they move through school’….they have ’exemplary attitudes to learning’ and ‘behave outstandingly well’. As part of their key findings they reported that.... ‘The quality of teaching is always good and sometimes outstanding’ and that school leaders and governors ‘have clear vision for improvement, shared by all staff.’
I hope that you find the website informative and gives you a feel for the exciting learning that takes place! Please contact school if you would like more information or to arrange a visit.
